Iron & Clay Artistry

The art of Blacksmithing and Pottery holds a deep historical significance in traditional roles through-out history.

Even today, learning the trades of moving metal or shaping clay gives creative element to a design when it comes to metal work or pottery.

Designing a tool for everyday use is a long sought-out experience for many seeking to learn a new hobby or trade and the ability to forge a weapon or tool, or form a decorative piece of pottery showcases both form and functionality within that experience.

Many skilled artisans use traditional techniques passed down from generations to create jewelry, tools, sculptures and also weapons used for everyday purposes.

Iron & Clay Artistry showcases and sells many items that were created using the same authentic traditions used many years ago.

We Love What We Do!

Spending time with people and helping in the community is what we love doing best, Teaching others and sharing our skills keeps us young at heart and keeps us focused on what matters most to us; Showing Love! We’ve started a program in 2024 to where parents can bring their children to what ever event we’re in through the months of November and December to visit with Santa and Mrs. Klaus. Its a less frightening experience because we make it comfortable and relaxing for both parent and child. Be looking for more on these upcoming events in our calendar post.

Blacksmithing at it’s finest

Many of our shows that we attend are what is called “Period Correct” to where we dress in clothing of that particular time frame and use tools of the trade utilized in that period. Our demonstration forge is a 1918 Bufco Rivet Forge with a German pattern style 65 pound travel anvil. Our home forge consist of a 1900’s Champion brand fire pot and a mid 1860’s Peter Wright 172 pound anvil sent from England where it was once used as a ballest on ships. Both forges use coal as it main source of heat and we demontrate on how to maintain the heat and utilize it to move the metal inorder to shape what ever design we are wanting. Many of our students during classes receive first hand training on how to work with a coal fire forge and the tools needed to become an accomplished blacksmith.
